WINE INFORMATION
Four Vines was launched in 1994 by Christian Tietje, in what he called a garage and surf shack. Known for full-flavored Zinfandel and Chardonnay, the company grew considerably and in 2010 sold to Purple Wine Company, a Sonoma firm headed by the founder of the Blackstone brand.
Stretching from Monterey Bay all the way to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast AVA is home to 40 smaller growing regions such as Paso Robles and Edna Valley. Most Central Coast vineyards run east to west, open to the chilly Pacific Ocean. As the interior begins to warm, cool, moist air is pulled into the valleys creating morning fog and reducing sun exposure. Grapes are fond of chilly evenings and ripen slowly and evenly under these conditions. More hang time on the vines equates to more flavor in the glass.
Sourced from cool climate vineyards along California's Central Coast, Four Vines Naked is a pure, mostly unoaked Chardonnay. Grapes were harvested during the cooler nights and morning hours to preserve the fruit’s delicate flavors. After a gentle pressing, the grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with Burgundian yeasts. The wine then aged on its lees in tank for six months. A small portion was aged in lightly toasted French oak and underwent malolactic fermentation adding a creamy note and softening the mouthfeel.o more
