This Talley Chardonnay is reminiscence of an Old World Chardonnay, with balance and grace. It has aromas of lemon tart, jasmine and orange blossom. On the palate the flavors are concentrated with notes of nectarine, apple, white pepper, lemon preserves and crème brûlée. It is medium plus in body with a round mouthfeel and medium acidity.
WINE INFORMATION
Talley Vineyards began in 1948 as Talley Farms, a grower of specialty vegetables in the Arroyo Grande Valley by Olivier Talley. After observation and analysis of the transformation happening around them in both Arroyo Grande and Edna Valleys, Olivier’s son, Don, planted an experimental plot of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling, in a small plot on their Arroyo Grande property. The first vintage of Talley Vineyards was 1986 with 450 cases. In the fall of 1991, the winery built a state-of-the-art winery and expanded its production. Today, Talley Family Vineyards, is run by the 3rd generation. They are firm believers that wine is made in the vineyard and are meticulous about their vine-growing and vineyard management.
The Talley Vineyards label is dedicated to the production of estate grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir produced entirely from six vineyards in the Arroyo Grande and Edna Valleys. This Estate Chardonnay comes from a combination of grapes from the Rincon Vineyard (62%), Rosemary’s Vineyard (20%), Monte Sereno Vineyard (11%), and Las Ventanas Vineyard (7%). The grapes were hand-harvested from the end of August to the beginning of October. Grapes were fermented with native yeasts and undergoes full malolactic fermenation. The wine is aged for 14 months sur-lie in French oak barrels, 20% new.
