WINE INFORMATION

Sicily is Italy’s southernmost region and the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. For more than 2500 years, Sicily has been a significant center of Mediterranean viniculture, although the reputation and style of its wines have changed significantly over that time.

Grillo, the dominant grape in this blend, is native to Italy, and grows particularly well in Sicily where it can withstand the hot, sunny days. Viognier, a grape of French heritage (Rhone Valley) must be carefully nurtured in Sicily to ensure grapes do not produce more sugars than desired or result in harvests with higher potential alcohol.

Santa Tresa is located on a plain, with the Dirillo river to the north, the Iblei mountains to the east and open to the sea to the south and west. The nearly 123 acres of vineyard are farmed organically and low intervention methods (such as growing cover crops between the rows) help to preserve biodiversity and the ecological health of the land. Irrigation when needed is applied using underground methods, preserving water from evaporating under the Sicilian sun. This wine is fermented in stainless steel tank, and is vegan-friendly.
