Tasting Notes

The nose is appealing and a little earthy with gamey animalistic barn notes and some cured meat mixed around with black pepper and dark fruit. The complex palate delivers dark chocolate, black plum and smoke. The tannins are polished and slightly drying on the finish.  It is medium plus in body and medium acidity.

Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is a family-owned winery located in the Côte-Rôtie region of the northern Rhône Valley near the village of Ampuis. Jean-Michel established his winery in 1983. The estate covers 17 hectares (30 acres) in the Côte-Rôtie appellation and smaller plots in Condrieu and the northern Rhône, which Jean-Michel farms alongside his two sons, Michäel and Alexis.  Additional vineyard sites include La Villiere, Les Grades Places, La Landonne, Cote-Bodin, to which are now farmed organically starting in 2020.
