Tasting Notes

This is great wine for the money!  A must-have for weeknight drinking.  LAB Lisboa is aromatic with rich, stewed berries, boysenberry, and a touch of vanilla and white pepper.  This medium-bodied wine is nicely saturated and fleshy.  Flavors of boysenberry, blueberry pie and vanilla are never overpowering or heavy. Though ripe and rich, the wine is delicious and refreshing with soft tannins.

Composed of 35% Castelao (aka Periquita), 25% Tinta Roriz, 25% Syrah and 15% Touriga Nacional, the grapes were fully destemmed, pressed, fermented in very large vats and then aged four months in a combination of oak from Portugal, France and the U.S.

Casa Santos Lima was founded by Joaquim Santos Lima and by the turn of the 19th century, was a major exporter of Portuguese wine.  It is a family business with several estates.  They began extensive replanting and modernization in the 1990s, making their own brands as well as crafting wine for others.
