Aromas of red and black fruits with a hint of mint. On the palate this is medium-plus in body with black fruit flavors and mouthwatering acidity. Notes of bark, black currants, dried herbs and bramble with fine tannins. The finish is long with a combination of dark berries, forest floor and dark chocolate flavors.
WINE INFORMATION
The Romero Marcuzzi family started their first winery four decades ago in Tolombón, a few kilometers from Cafayate in Salta. There, among the vineyards, began the development of the current project: a strong commitment to the site. It was in that first winery that Lucía, the granddaughter of Roberto Romero and present Director of El Porvenir de Cafayate, took her first steps.?
In the year 2000 the Romero family decided to design a premium winery to make high quality wines. With this clear objective, they purchased an old winery and invested in new infrastructure and technology for the facility. At this same time they began to restore the 50 year-old Torrontés and Tannat vineyards on the property. They also planted Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah vines in a new vineyard. Today, the winery based in Cafayate is managed by Lucía Romero- Marcuzzi.
Cafayate is a small, isolated valley with very special characteristics, its desert climate and poor soils benefit the production of high quality grapes, making it easy to practice integrated, sustainable and organic viticulture. The vineyard sits at an altitude of 1,750 meters or about a mile above sea level in the province of Salta, Argentina. The vineyard is located 180 km South of the capital, in an extreme desert climate. This brings warm days and cool nights, very little rainfall and plentiful sunlight, with vineyards planted between 1,700 and 2,500 meters above sea level. The principal factor influencing the vines is the day-night temperature variation, due to the altitude, which allows the grapes to become very concentrated and at the same time very ripe, resulting in wines with smooth, round tannins.
The Amauta, in the original cultures of Cafayate, was the great teacher, the wise man. Respected for his knowledge of human subjects, of nature, and of the universe, it was he who taught to live.
