WINE INFORMATION

Menetou-Salon is a small appellation in the upper Loire, just west of Sancerre and far less well-known.  It produces essentially the same range of wines—red and rosé from Pinot Noir, white from Sauvignon Blanc.  Its limestone and clay soils are similar to those of its neighbor, but the topography is flatter and the vineyards more spread out.  About 60% of the production is white, most refreshingly aromatic and wonderfully mineral.

Nestled in the tiny village of Sury-en-Vaux in the Sancerrre appellation, husband and wife, Christian and Karine Lauverjat farm 12 hectares of vines sustainably, resulting in pure, balanced wines. The average vine age is 26-30 years-old.  The vines grow on the slopes of one hill which gives a range of different exposures and two main soil types.

The grapes were fermented and aged in stainless steel. About 415 cases produced.
