Tasting Notes

Classic Gruner aromas with green melon, white pepper, citrus notes and some soft kiwi. The palate is full of juicy passionfruit, ripe whte peach, some pineapple notes and fresh parsley. The texture is medium weight and silky with a medium plus finish and honeysuckle ending.

WINE INFORMATION

Fred Loimer began practicing biodynamics in 2006 and is a founding member of Respekt, a certifying body for biodynamic viticulture. All his wines are certified vegan. His estate near the village of Langenlois in the Kamptal region includes several prestigious single-vineyards, and his winery is a model of modern efficiency. His philosophy is one of non-intervention and patience.

In 2000 Loimer had a minimalist black cube built on a 150-year-old, hand-dug loess cellar in Langenlois adding new spice to the charming local Kellergassen, or cellar streets. A real pioneer of the much heralded wine architecture movement and biodynamic farming, Loimer has been practicing biodynamics since 1998 when he took over from his father.

Grapes for this wine come from a combination of young and old vines all from the Kamptal, where soils are mostly loess. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast is followed by brief aging in stainless steel tanks (95%) and old big barrels (5%).
