Tasting Notes

This wine's deep red color speaks volumes. A dense, powerful nose reveals aromas of black fruit, rich oak and cherry liqueur. The full-bodied mouthfeel is provided by smooth tannins, bringing distinguished notes of Havana cigars and chocolate. The finish is remarkably long.

This estate located in the northern part of the Medoc region of Bordeaux is composed of 360 acres of vines. It has been focused on sustainability for the past 20 years, returning as needed to time-honored ancestral methods. The winery has held the Terra Vitis certification since 2010. Soils here are chalky clay and gravel.

2015 was considered an exceptional year in Bordeaux both for quality and quantity of grapes. The spring was warm and dry, allowing the fruit to set perfectly. High temperatures in the summer encouraged ripening and halted vine growth to prevent too much leaf production. September and October were sunny and dry, allowing for maximum hang time and a relaxed harvest. The Merlot was harvested September 28-30, 2015 and the Cabernet Sauvignon came in October 8-10, 2015.

Aging of 16 months takes place in French oak barrels of which 70% are new and 30% are one-year old. This is a wine that can be cellared through 2025 and beyond.
