Aromas of lychee, rose petals, Asian pear, cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate this medium-plus body wine is dry and lightly spicy (ginger root). The aromas translate onto exotic flavors. It has quite the long finish. This is a classic dry Alsatian gewürztraminer.
WINE INFORMATION
Alsace is a complex and often poorly understood wine region. It's French but has mostly German names and grape varietals, it has a complicated system of Grand Cru vineyard sites and the styles of wine can vary greatly from one producer to another. Alsace is known for its white wines: refreshing Pinot Blanc, spicy Gewurztraminer, rich Pinot Gris, and outstanding Rieslings.
Alsace benefits from a unique microclimate thanks to the Vosges Mountains protection. The vineyards are planted on the Ribeauville’s fault line that fractures 50 million years ago between the Vosges Mountain range and the Black Forest offering very diverse terroirs including the complex calcareous limestone and biodegrated seashell fossils called “Muschelkalk.”
The viticultural origin of the Trimbach family dates back to 1626. For three centuries and across 13 generations, the family has produced wines that are structured, long-lived, fruity, elegant and balanced.
Grapes for this wine come from estate vineyards as well as purchased fruit for growers with whom the family has had connections for years. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. There is no secondary malolactic fermentation in order to maintain as much natural acidity as possible. This gewürztraminer was aged for 2 years before release.
