The notes of cooked black raspberries, cherries with dusty notes behind them develop a wide range of aromas including a touch of tobacco, vanilla and leather. On the palate, well-integrated medium tannins, medium acidity and medium intensity of black berry, black cherry, currants, some savory tobacco and saddle notes. This is a tasty food wine due to texture, weight and acid, nice fruit to savory mix.
A portion of the Clos de la Cure vines are located in a beautiful walled vineyard near the church of Saint Christophe des Bardes on the plateau of Saint Etienne de Lisse. While the average vine age is 30 years, it is believed that vines were planted on these plateaus in the Middle Ages.
Old sandy soils, sandstone (hardpan) and iron deposit in one parcel, gravel in the other.Prefermentation cold soaking. Vinified in tank with punch downs followed by a 4 week maceration in temperature controlled tanks. 40% malolactic fermentation in barrel, the rest in tank which is later transferred to barrel for ageing on the lees. Aged 12-15 months in French oak, 50% of which is new.
