Odfjell Armador Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Tasting Notes

On the nose the wine offers aromas of green pepper, crushed stones, guava, and star fruit. The wine is dry on the palate with passion fruit, pink grapefruit, and herbal notes. Medium in body with fresh acid to balance.

Seafood, salads and goat cheese are perfect pairings for this wine. Of course, it’s delicious on its own.  But, don’t miss the unique experience of pairing this fresh white wine with shellfish.  Alternatively enjoy with chicken, risotto, crudités, Mexican food, or sushi.

Dan Odfjell, a Norwegian Armador (Spanish word for “ship owner”) fell in love with the Maipo Valley and its sun.  Over 25 years ago he established his winery, Odfjell Vineyards.  Odfjell is committed to be a leader in progressive vineyard management, dedicated to elevate the image and practice of viticulture in Chile. The aim of this work is to produce the best possible wines in the vineyards, together with a long-term commitment to sustainable agriculture and green winemaking practices. They have earned the Sustainable Wine of Chile certification, which accredits their use of sustainable practices in the vineyards, the winery, and their relationship with their workers and local communities. Grapes for this wine are certified organic.

The Armador line of wines was created in 1999. These were the first wines made by Odfjell Vineyards. These are meant to be vibrant, provocative, and authentic wines with extraordinary fruit and freshness. They aim to show the typicity of each variety grown in estate vineyards.

The grapes for this wine come from a unique biodynamic vineyard located in the cool San Antonio Valley, just about 15 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, where ideal conditions for this variety are met. Planted on a granitic hill, its soils provide hints of minerality.

The grapes were hand -picked, destemmed, pressed, and then the juice was put into stainless steel tanks for 15 days to ferment.
