Tasting Notes

Dark ruby in color. Complex nose brimming with brambly blackberry, rhubarb pie, plum, orange peel and marjoram. Secondary notes of savory, ripe red berry, and cigar box. Ripe, medium to full-bodied flavors of cassis, red raspberry and plum. Finishes long with bright notes of red fruits, framed up nicely with lingering plum and a hint of tobacco.” – Jamey Whetstone, Winemaker

WINE INFORMATION

Noah River Wines are everyday wines made by veteran winemaker Jamey Whetstone. After scouring California for good quality grapes and years of building relationships with growers, Jamey has crafted wines that are deeply satisfying to drink. Jamey moved out to Napa Valley from his home in South Carolina to manage Mustards Grill in 1996. Simply captivated by the community, lifestyle, and culture of wine country, he found himself quickly growing roots. By 1998, he had begun his winemaking education at Turley Wine Cellars where he would remain in his apprenticeship until 2005. During that time, he spent a summer sabbatical working for the Seysses family at Domaine Dujac in Morey-Saint-Denis and laid the groundwork for Whetstone Wine Cellars, which he founded in 2002.

Grapes for this wine are sourced from a number of well-known growers in California.  This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.
