ABOUT THE WINE
Soave Classico is the hilly area where vineyards were planted during Roman times. It is uniquely suited for developing white wine with its volcanic soil: pure basaltic lava, the only area with these particular characteristics in Northern Italy. Although Soave was the most famous Italian white wine worldwide, a few producers really understood the importance of owning the best plots to secure a future of top-notch quality wines. During the ‘60s Giuseppe Inama, the estate’s founder, began to purchase small plots of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico. The intuition of the founder was to foresee the potential of the Classico area to produce wines unrepeatable elsewhere.
Vigneti di Foscarino is the winery’s interpretation of the Soave Classico appellation that looks back to ancient times. It recalls ancestral traditions in order to revive forgotten aromas. Grapes come from old vines, most more than 40 years old. The vineyards are located in the Monte Foscarino; with basaltic-volcanic soil and south-east exposure of the vines.
Grapes are fermented in used barriques. Prior to racking, batonnage is carried out every 6 weeks for about 6 months. Afterwards, the wine is fined for 6 months in stainless steel vats.
The Garganega variety was introduced in the Classic area 2,000 years ago by the Romans.
