Tasting Notes

Aromas are complex, dark, fruity, and savory. Licorice starts the show, followed by grapey, plummy fruit. Savory touches of cured meat and smoke join the parade. The first taste is tart, with a very fine but slightly aggressive fizz. Tannins are a presence, along with the refreshing tartness, from start to finish. This well-integrated, well-structured wine is medium in body and has a longer finish.

Founded 15 years ago, this estate lies at the foot of the Apennine Mountains at 330 meters above sea level. The area is both sunny and windy, both of which are good for the grapes. The estate is certified organic and produces all its own energy, using solar panels and biomass boilers. This wine is made using traditional cool vinification following a long maceration. The bottle closure is dates to the 19th century, very traditional.
