The nose entices with lemon-lime, white peach and apricot fruit aromas accompanied by white floral notes, a chalky minerality, and scents of tall field grasses. The wine is both soft and round in texture, highlighted by abundant citrus, peach, and apricot flavors. Fruit blossom and subtle dried-herb nuances (in particular) add complexity and linger through the pleasantly surprising, lengthy finish.
Domaine de la Rochette has been in Vincent Leclair's family for four generations. Upon taking over the fifty hectares of vines from his father in 2014, Leclair initiated significant changes in the vineyard’s management. Though he aspires to practice organic farming across all of his properties, so doing in Touraine is challenging due to the substantial rainfall and subsequent mildew pressure; Leclair minimizes mildew treatments to the greatest extent possible. Altogether, the winery is France’s High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3 certified sustainable.
