WINE INFORMATION
Reuilly is the name of a village, as well as a commune in Loire Valley. It is in Sauvignon Blanc territory, and ancient winemaking village that today has about 300 acres in vines.
Domaine de Reuilly is located in the heart of the Reuilly appellation, with all its 17 hectares of vineyards in the commune of Reuilly itself; only two of the 17 hectares are planted to Pinot Gris. The average vine age is 10 years.
The soils here are siliceous gravel. Denis has been practicing sustainable agriculture for many years and the domaine is certified organic and biodynamic.
All work at the vineyard is made by hand, including harvesting. This wine is made by direct press and fermentation and ageing happens in stainless steel.
TASTING NOTES
The aromas are delicate but complex with floral notes, minerality, light gooseberry, peach, dried apricot and citrus peel. On the palate this is light with red berry, peach, green tea and stone. Despite the lightness of the flavors there is a creaminess lifted by the acidity.
FOOD PAIRING
Enjoy on its own or with a light lunch or dinner of salad, bread, and cheese, particularly goat. Also complements seafood easily. Try with lime inflicted Asian dishes, roasted asparagus, chicken, and smoked fish.
