Carlo Deltetto began making wine in the Langhe and Roero areas in 1953; the winery is located in Canale, the heart of Roero. His son Antonio completed his enological studies in 1977 and now runs the estate with his wife and children. Deltetto produces sparkling and still wines from estate fruit, both red and white. The family has been producing Arneis grapes for over 40 years and makes two bottlings.
The Deltetto family were the first ones to produce sparkling wine using the Champagne method in Piedmont. For this bottling the wine spends 42 months (that is almost 4 years) in secondary fermentation with the lees which adds yeastiness and complexity to the wine.
TASTING NOTES
Complex aromas of baked apple, citrus, brioche, melon, and pear lead to equally complex flavors reminiscent of green apples, crème Brule, melon, citrus, and minerality. This wine is complex and beautiful with a very fine bead.
FOOD PAIRING
Sparkling wine is not just for celebrations. Enjoy with risotto, oysters, light appetizers, ham, quiche or sushi.
