On the nose, this shows notes of strawberry, raspberry leaf and light peach. It is medium weight and roundish, yet with frisky acidity. Flavors of strawberry fruit, white raspberries, subtle peach, and lemon end with a slightly tart finish.
Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 by visionary founder Paul Gerrie and his wife Eileen, and is now under the direction of their son Tom Gerrie and his winemaker, Steve Doerner. The estate is Certified Sustainable by Low Input Viticulture & Enology (LIVE), both in the winery and in the vineyards.
The winery specializes in Pinot Noir and there are 58 acres densely planted to vines on the 130-acre estate. The 2019 Esate Rosé of Pinot Noir comes from one of the driest recorded years ever at Cristom Vineyards, creating overwhelmingly concentrated flavors. Grapes were hand harvested and hand sorted, then pressed gently in a pneumatic bladder press after a short skin contact. 75% of the wine used native yeast for fermentation. The wine is aged in neutral French oak barrels for 4 months and is lightly fined and filtered.
