Tasting Notes

This comes from a small, family-run estate in Catellini-in-Chianti (in the heart of Chianti Classico on the west side) dating back to the 16th century. The Pozzesi family began bottling their own wine in 1967; it's now run by son Enrico. The wine is certified organic--grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with natural yeast in cement, and aged 15 months in large, neutral Solvenian botti. 


The nose reveals cherry skin and savory notes of olives and barrel. The palate is medium weight or just over with sweet fruits of red cherry, blackberry and plum. There is some acidity present and fine tannins that turn a little gritty towards the finish.
