Tasting Notes

Beautiful Grenache aromas of red fruit, with light spice, red licorice, floral notes and garrigue. The palate is also very pure and true to Grenache with a hint of licorice and dried herbs. It is medium-bodied, incredibly silky, with a long finish.

WINE INFORMATION

The idea of Chateau Maris began twenty years ago when Englishman, Robert Eden immigrated to France with the dream of crafting wines that were a reflection of the land where the grapes were grown. He believed just as passionately then as he does today that ‘wine is grown and not made’. He particularly fell in love with the town of La Liviniere, in the Minervois, where Chateau Maris winery and vineyards are located. All their vines are certified as organic and biodynamic by Ecocert since 2002, Biodyvin since 2004, Demeter since 2008 and B Corporation since 2016. At Maris they are firm believers in walking the talk.

The Château Maris emblem represents an image of a dove flying as a messenger of peace. The four dots represent the elements of earth, air, fire and water.  These elements are not isolated entities but are interacting at all times, often defying rational analysis. The dots also represent the four psychological functions, or “the ways of knowing” (C. G. Jung), Intuition and Sensing, Thinking and Feeling. The circle represents the force in the solar system and lunar cycles and the awareness of the effects of the actions of the cosmos on life on earth.

The grapes for this wine come from vineyards planted on sedimentary rock and de-calcified. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently crushed. The grapes are fermented in cement tank and the juice is gently pumped over with some punching of the cap during the three-week maceration.
