This red blend smells very rich and complex with a mélange of wild berries, licorice, leather, wood and plum. On the palate, it's gracious and supple with juicy plum, currant and blackberry fruit. While it shows some oak, it's not too much. What a steal!
This wine hails from far northeast Catalonia, specifically, the Empordà region with grapes coming from five separate parcels. Grapes were first grown here by the monks in the Middle Ages; the estate has been in the control of the Mateu family since 1923. They run the Castle Perelada with an unceasing search for quality and with an eye to the finest in art and culture.
