This shows developed aromas such as leather, mineral and soil mixing with fruity blackcurrants. The medium plus-bodied palate is more red fruited with cherries, plums and blackberries. It is dense and lush, merging some mineral and a light thread of iron and earth. This is pure, focused and well integrated with fresh acidity.
Situated at one of the highest points of Côtes de Bourg, Château Maine d'Arman has been in the hands of the Bassereau family since 1900. It benefits from the gravel and clay soils that have made the Right Bank famous. As a result, the Château reliably produces perfectly ripened Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
These grapes are grown sustainably on eight acres of red gravel and clay on chalky and limestone subsoil. The grapes are macerated at a low temperature before fermentation. Afterwards, another maceration follows, with daily pumping over for 15 days. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels with micro-oxygenation and stirring of the fine lees.
