Enticing aromas of bright red fruit, some black pepper, clove and eucalyptus. The plate is concentrated and dry surprisingly dominated by red fruit flavors, particularly cherries. More clove and some dried flowers add layers of complexity. Medium to medium-plus body with lifting acidity and a medium finish.
Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around".
The Y Series is the entry level wine made by Australia’s oldest family-owned winery. Some of the fruit for this wine is sourced and some is estate. Both grapes are co-fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.
